Veterinary Osteopathy

Veterinary osteopathy is a gentle, manual therapy that supports mobility, balance, and overall wellbeing in animals. Free and comfortable movement is essential for health and performance, whether in sport, work, or everyday life.

When restrictions develop in the body, they may appear as stiffness, uneven movement, reduced performance or activity, behavioural changes, or discomfort during handling and movement.

Osteopathy takes a holistic approach, recognising the close connection between the musculoskeletal system, internal organs, and the nervous system.

Each session begins with a thorough and individual assessment. This includes observation of posture and movement, as well as discussion of activity level, training or workload, daily management, equipment when relevant, previous injuries, and veterinary history.

Restrictions may present as asymmetry, reduced mobility, reluctance to perform certain movements, changes in behaviour, or compensatory patterns that develop over time. Osteopathic treatment is adapted to each individual and aims to gently release tension, improve mobility, and restore balance, supporting the body’s own ability to regulate and heal.

Veterinary osteopathy can be used both preventively and as supportive care when an animal is experiencing discomfort, compensation, or reduced function.

Regular osteopathic check-ups can help maintain mobility, comfort, and long-term health.

Equine Osteopathy

When can osteopathy help your horse?

Equine osteopathy can be helpful in many different situations, both preventive and supportive. It may benefit your horse if you notice:

  • Stiffness, uneven movement or reduced flexibility

  • Difficulty with certain movements like flying change, transitions or one rein

  • Changes in contact, uneven rein pressure or resistance

  • Reduced performance or reluctance to work

  • Compensatory movement patterns or asymmetry

  • Bucking or kicking out on landing after fences

  • Rushing fences, loss of adjustability before or after jumps, or overly aggressive approaches to fences affecting rhythm and balance

  • Behavioural changes such as irritability, tension or sensitivity

  • Recovery support after injury, rest periods or changes in workload

  • Digestive discomfort, recurrent tension or signs of internal imbalance

Canine Osteopathy

When can osteopathy help your dog?

Canine osteopathy can be beneficial in many different situations, both preventive and supportive. It may help your dog if you notice:

• Unexplained lameness, limping, or abnormal gait patterns (e.g. bunny hopping, uneven movement, or conditions commonly seen in small breeds such as patellar luxation)
• General stiffness, reduced mobility, or difficulty performing normal movements
• Difficulty going up or down stairs
• Reluctance or difficulty jumping (for example into a car or onto sofa)
• Fatigue during walks or reduced willingness to go for walks
• Postural changes such as a lowered tail carriage or a rounded (hunched) posture
• Asymmetry or compensatory movement patterns
• Sensitivity, discomfort, or increased muscle tension when touched
• Behavioural changes such as irritability, restlessness, aggression, withdrawal, or reluctance to play
• Support during recovery after injury, surgery, or periods of reduced activity
• Load- or sport-related issues in active dogs (e.g. sport dogs, agility dogs, working dogs)
• Recurrent tension, digestive discomfort, or signs of internal imbalance
